Our Team

Courtney Gundrum, PsyD, LPCC

I believe that authenticity and the therapeutic relationship are at the heart of meaningful change. Therapy is most effective when there’s a strong, trusting connection, and I strive to create a space where you feel comfortable, supported, and truly heard. I’m often described as laid-back, compassionate, and someone who values dark humor in session. At the same time, I’m not afraid to challenge you or be direct when needed.

Every person is unique, and I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to therapy. I primarily integrate trauma-informed, person-centered, relational, and cognitive behavioral (CBT) approaches, tailoring each session to your needs. My goal is to meet you where you are and build on your strengths to help you navigate life’s challenges.

I enjoy working with adults (18+) who may be struggling with concerns related to:

I have extensive experience working with individuals who have struggled with addiction, as well as supporting their families. I am comfortable working with clients prescribed medication-assisted treatments (e.g., Suboxone, Sublocade, Ketamine) and those involved with the Minnesota HPSP program.  Additionally, I have a growing passion for working with first responders and I partner with first responder departments to provide mental health resiliency training. I am also passionate about working with individuals who have ADHD, as well as their family members who may struggle to understand or navigate the challenges that come with it. Parenting, in general, can feel overwhelming, and I enjoy work with caregivers to help them manage the stress, guilt, and uncertainty that often come with raising children. No matter your background, I approach every client with a trauma-informed perspective, ensuring that your story is met with understanding and care.

Outside of work, I love spending time with my partner, our three sons, and our dogs. I also enjoy relaxing outdoors, connecting with friends, and playing co-ed softball in the summer. And when I need to unwind, you’ll probably find me watching reruns of Friends or watching murder mystery documentaries.

I look forward to the opportunity of collaborating with you.

I am a mental health therapist with over 10 years of experience who works exclusively with adults, offering a direct but casual approach. I believe therapy doesn’t have to feel overly clinical to be effective—there’s room for honesty, real conversation, and in my office, dark humor is appreciated and welcomed!

I work with individuals experiencing trauma, anger, anxiety, depression/mood disorders, self-harming thoughts and behaviors, and those trying to rediscover themselves throughout life’s many transitions. My approach incorporates trauma informed, CBT, DBT, ACT, and person-centered approaches depending on each individual’s needs and goals. My work focuses on helping clients process and move forward from trauma, build insight, increase flexibility in how they respond to challenges, and move forward with greater clarity, resilience and effectiveness.

I am experienced in treating adults (18+) experiencing:

Since 2017, I have worked extensively with first responders and medical professionals, including law enforcement, firefighters, dispatchers, correctional officers, EMS, physicians (with a special interest in those identifying as physician moms), nurses, physician assistants, emergency department and ICU staff. I understand the unique culture, stressors, and expectations that come with these roles, and I offer a space where you don’t have to filter, explain, or minimize your experiences.

My work focuses on helping clients identify the coping, thinking, and behavioral patterns that once served a purpose but are no longer working—and replacing them with more effective, sustainable strategies, all while maintaining self-compassion and self-respect.

When I am not working, you can find me baking, exercising, spending time with my partner and two children, reading fantasy and psychological thrillers (surprise!), and binge-watching the latest Netflix show.
